Tino Rangatiratanga

Tino rangatiratanga.

Tino rangatiratanga is most commonly translated as meaning self-determination, although some people believe this translation is problematic.

Some state that tino rangatiratanga in an educational context, refers to the realignment of power relations in schools, specifically in relation to the decision-making process.

Others view tino rangatiratanga from an educational perspective as “representing the need for indigenous people to being the mission, the kaupapa (philosophy) of their work within their own cultural value systems” In this way, they place tino rangatiratanga as a core value for Mäori education.

THERE IS A SONG I LOVE TO HEAR WHEN I FEEL MY SOUL LIKE WANDERING THROUGH AN ABYSS.
